US ambassador to Georgia visits Poti to inspect results of American financial support

The US ambassador to Georgia, John Bas, is visiting Poti today to monitor the results of the financial support ($1 billion) given to Georgia by the American government after the war of 2008, Georgia online reports.

This time it concerns construction of the pipeline connecting the free industrial zones of Senaki and Poti.

The Poti-Senaki pipeline is a part of $115 million American project scheduled over 30 months. This pipeline provides Poti, Senaki, Hobi and 25,000 people living in Samegrelo villages with gas.

The ambassador will meet the minister of energy of Georgia, Alexander Hetaguri, the governor of Smergrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Zaza Garozia, and people employed in the pipeline construction.
