The gunmen of the North Caucasus have started a struggle for power among themselves, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said, RIA Novosti reports.
There are as many supporters as opponents of such gang leaders as Doku Umarov, especially in Dagestan, Nurgaliyev said.
Speaking about the situation in the Caucasus he said that the Interior Ministry, together with the Federal Security Service, had been working on stabilization in the region. He admitted that some terrorist attacks still take place.
