Alexander Khloponin, authorized envoy of the Russian president to the
North Caucasian Federal District (NFD), has met local media officials,
the department for interior policy of the envoy's office reports.
The meeting saw representatives from TV channels and news agencies.
The previous meeting was held on September 24.
The head of All-Russian State Television and Broadcasting Company
'Stavropolye' Peter Vasiliyev talked about the poor economic
development of the region. Khloponin said that they need a
self-regulating organization to distribute finances efficiently.
The head of the news agency 'Grozny Inform' said that young people
often get involved in extremism through websites and requested the
envoy to close the sites. Khloponin said that it would be more
beneficial to oppose the website instead of closing them. They should
be turned into discussion platforms with experts explaining the basics
of religion. He also said that they are developing an All-Caucasian
Youth Alliance.
The youth issue was also raised in relation with the history of
collecting signatures supporting separation of the Stavropol Territory
from the NCFD. Khloponin said that he is aware of the issue and urges
people not to speculate on the memory of ancestors. All peoples of the
North Caucasus will be represented in the Olympic Games in Sochi.
There were talks on establishment of the Public Council. Khloponin
said that the council will have the most authoritative and
unprejudiced figures. He also said that they need more young people
involved in its work. Business is ready to take part as well, they are
ready to invest into economy of the region.
The Serdalo paper asked about the inspection of federal structures by
Ingush Ministry of Healthcare. The commission revealed many
violations. It is headed by Suleiman Vagapov. Among the violations are
fake requests for subsidies and medicine, high prices for medicine,
waste of health finances on purchase of cars and computers for the
ministry.
The meeting had a topic on settlement of Ossetian-Ingush relations.
Khloponin said that they have a program, the Russian Deputy Minister
for Regional Development Sergey Vereshagin is concluding preparation
of the program. The fact that tens of Ingush citizens are working in
the North Ossetian Ministry of the Interior demonstrates positive
tendencies in the conflict.
