Turkmenistan may export up to 40 billion cubic meters of gas to
Europe, Turkmen Vice-Premier Baymurad Hojamuhamedov said at a forum
titled 'Oil and Gas Turkmenistan-2010' in Ashkhabad, Trend reports.
He said that Turkmenistan is constructing the East-West pipeline with
a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas transported to the west.
He noted that construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline along the
seabed of the Caspian meets the Turkmen policy in diversifying natural
gas distribution. The pipeline will allow Turkmenistan to transport
gas to Azerbaijan and then to Europe. The project needs the approval
of ecological services and expertise.
The vice-premier commented on the Nabucco project, saying that
Turkmenistan will need a gas market in 2011, Malaysia's Petronas
produces 5 billion cubic meters of gas on the sea block of the
Caspian.
