Gambia breaks all diplomatic, political and economic relations with Iran, said on Tuesday France Press referring to the official statement of the Gambian Foreign Ministry, RIA Novosti reports.
"All projects and programs, acting in cooperation with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, are stopped," reads the statement of the Gambian Foreign Ministry. The Government of Gambia "requires all Iranian citizens, representing the interests of Iran Government in Gambia, to leave the country within 48 hours," said Foreign Ministry.
The reason for such a hard step are not explained. Experts believe that this decision could be connected a scandal with the arrest in Nigeria of the large quantities of weapons, allegedly destined for re-export to the Gambia from Iran.
