Iran is currently working on an action plan on ecology, trade and swap
schemes, 1news.az reports.
Iran will prepare a document entitled ‘The Iranian Doctrine on the
Caspian’, which will include issues of cooperation with neighbouring
states, The Iranian special presidential representative on the
Caspian's status, Magomedmekhdi Akhundzade, told a press conference
after the summit of the Caspian states in Baku on November 18.
In November 2003 the Caspian states signed a framework convention on
protection of the Caspian Sea.
In July 1998 Kazakhstan and Russia signed an agreement on determining
the borders of the northern part of the sea and in May 2002 they
signed a protocol to the agreement.
On November 29, 2001, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan signed an agreement
and a protocol and on February 27, 2003, on determination of their sea
borders.
Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement on the crossing
point of their borders of the Caspian Sea on May 14, 2003.
