The population of Dagestan has reached 2,754,800 people, according to
the information of October 2010, an increase of 24,600 (0.9%),
compared to the same period last year. 57.7% of the population are
rural dwellers, RIA Dagestan reports.
The Statistics Service of Dagestan said that 33,108 people were born
in January-August 2010, while 32,080 were born in the same period in
2009. The number of registered babies in January-August 2010 rose by
3.2%. The birth rate in the first 8 months of 2010 rose by 2.3%
compared to the same period last year, reaching 18.1 per 1000 people.
The number of people born in January-August 2010 rose, exceeding the
mortality rate three-fold. The birth rate in the first 8 months of
this year reached 12 per 1000 people, exceeding last year’s by 4.3%.
In January-August 2010 the number of emigrants amounted to 5,219
people, while in the same period last year the number was 4,753. The
number of immigrants to Dagestan from other republics and parts of
Russia increased by 7.2% in the first 8 months of 2010, while the
number of emigrants increased by 4.8%.
