Astana has hosted one of its first forums within the framework of
preparations for the OSCE summit, to discuss issues concerning the
non-governmental organizations of OSCE members, Trend reports.
Kazakh ambassador Madina Jabrusynova said at the opening of the forum
that the role of civil society cannot be overestimated. The Kazakh
chairmanship is paying special attention to humanitarian issues both
in Kazakhstan and the OSCE region, she said.
The ambassador stated that Kazakhstan held all the annual events
regarding the humanitarian sphere, except for the additional OSCE
meeting in Vienna on December 9-10, with the involvement of a wide
range of non-governmental organizations.
Jabrusynova emphasized that consistent work of state structures with
civil society and international experts is a characteristic of the
Kazakh chairmanship. She pointed out that the Kazakh Ministry of
Foreign Affairs initiated a consultative structure aimed at discussing
humanitarian aspects.
The Kazakh ambassador clarified that this forum was organized to allow
non-governmental organizations to express their views right before the
start of the summit. She concluded her speech by hoping that the forum
will help in further strengthening cooperation between
non-governmental organizations and the OSCE member-states.
