Head of post-Soviet security bloc to visit Armenia

Nikolai Bordyuzha, the secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), is beginning a three-day official visit to Armenia on Saturday, RIA Novosti reports.

The CSTO, a post-Soviet security bloc, comprises Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Secretary General Bordyuzha is set to monitor preparations for the upcoming session of the Collective Security Council in early December. "This is a regular visit held in line with preparations for the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council session in early December and for discussions on measures to implement agreements reached earlier,"  the press service said.

Bordyuzha is scheduled to hold meetings with Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan, Foreign Minister Edvard Nabaldnyan, Defense Minister Seiran Oganyan and National Security Council Secretary Artur Bagdasaryan.

Armenia is currently holding the rotating chair of the CSTO, after which Belarus will take over the chairmanship in December.
