Head of the Russian Ministry of Interior Rashid Nurgaliyev demanded
police of Kabardino-Balkaria step up the fight against militants and
the prevention of illegal arms trafficking, RIA Novosti reports.
The minister said that the situation in the region remains
complicated. He emphasized that the solution to the problem is an
improvement of methods of organizing inter-department cooperation. The
structures need to take measures to neutralize militant leaders and
cause disagreements in their groups.
Nurgaliyev demanded that the police authorities who get information
about militant actions or other crime activities inform the executive
authorities immediately.
Rashid Nurgaliyev presented the new police chief in Kabardino-Balkaria
- Police Colonel Sergey Vasilyev, who was formerly the deputy head of
police of Kemerovskaya Region. Nurgaliyev said that Vasilyev graduated
from the Ural Legal Institute and the Russian Academy of State Service
of the Russian president. The colonel has been serving since 1988.
Nurgaliyev also thanked the former Minister of Interior Affairs
Tomchak, who worked in the position for four years.
After that the minister handed out awards and commendations to police officers.
