Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is giving his annual address to the Federal Assembly. This will be the third address of Medvedev to the Parliament. The ceremony of the address is held in the St. George's Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
This year preparations for the address were held in private – unlike last year, when it was publicly discussed. Traditionally, the message covers the situation in the country and the main directions of domestic and foreign policy, as well as designated priority areas.
Medvedev outlined some specific topics to be addressed in the address, RIA Novosti reports. In particular, the President is going to raise the issue of changingthe public purchases law, which, according to him, “needs considerable correction”.The demographic situation, as a rule, is addressed in the President's message, and this year is no exception. In particular, he will speak about support for large families.
