The government of Stavropol Territory has developed a project,
together with experts, on state national policy of the region for
2011-2015. The document is based on the principles of the All-Russian
unity and civil patriotism, RIA Novosti reports, citing the
press-service of the region's governor.
The project will become the basis for the regional strategy for 2020
and achievement of the All-Caucasus goals for 2025, Governor Valery
Gayevsky said at an inter-ethnic council yesterday.
The press-service said that the next step is the establishment of a
program to harmonize inter-ethnic relations with clear proposals and
terms.
The acting director of the Institute of Social-Economic and
Humanitarian Studies of the Southern Science Research Center of the
Russian Academy of Sciences, Victor Avksentyev, said that the regional
project is a document of common agreement.
The Archbishop of Stavropol and Vladikavkaz Theophane emphasized the
importance of establishing the Inter-Religious Council and that it
should be made uo of representatives of all confessions.
The authorities proposed police departments and administrations of
municipalities to work with national communities.
Concerning the recent incident that occurred between the locals of
Zelenokumsk, Stavropol Territory, the governor noted that the criminal
case between the locals and inhabitants from the neighbouring republic
stirred up the whole country. The conflict made Stavropol Territory
look as a source of inter-ethnic tensions.
