Putin may head NCFD social-economic development commission

The Russian government plans to consider the establishment of a
commission for the social-economic development of the NCFD (North
Caucasian Federal District). Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has been
put forward as head of the commission, RIA Novosti reports.

In late October, Alexander Khloponin, the presidential envoy to the
NCFD, reported that the government commission for development of the
North Caucasus will meet in late November to discuss the most topical
complicated problems.

Khloponin is proposed as the deputy head of the commission.

According to the project, the commission will be established to
coordinate the work of federal structures of executive authorities and
authorities of the NCFD in issues of social-economic development.
