Internal trade of GUAM reaches $3 billion

The internal trade of GUAM in the first 9 months of this year has increased to $3 billion, APA reports, citing the Secretary General of the organization Valery Chechelashvili, speaking within the framework of the OSCE meeting in Astana.


On of the main components of the interior trade of GUAM is Azerbaijani oil supplies to Ukraine.

Approximately 1.5 million tons of oil worth over $700 were transported from Azerbaijan to Ukraine through GUAM transit corridor. These supplies are 25% of Ukraine’s consume.


In terms of GUAM’s interior commerce, in 2006 the indicators reached $2 billion, in 2008 – a record of $4 billion, in 2009 it dropped by 30% making $2.4 billion. This year the indicator is expected to reach $4.3 or $4.4 billion. The organization plans to have this indicator reach $10 billion in the nearest 4-5 years.


Astana will have an OSCE meeting tomorrow, the first in 11 years. On December 2, GUAM will have the 13th session of the council of GUAM ministers. The meeting will have discussions of prospects of the organization, cooperation with member states and various international organizations.
