Astana has concluded the first day of the OSCE summit at the Palace of
Independence, Kazinform reports.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his gratefulness to
participants of the summit for their speeches and welcomed them to the
full-dress function.
The OSCE summit in Astana saw 38 heads of states and governments,
representatives of 33 international and regional organizations who
arrived to discuss topical security issues. It is the first OSCE
summit in the last 11 years.
The summit was opened with a speech of the Kazakh president, followed
by speeches of the Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat
Saudabayev, General Secretary Ban Ki-moon, President of the OSCE
Parliamentary Assembly Petros Efthymiou, OSCE Secretary General Mark
Perren de Brishambo and heads of OSCE members.
The summit will continue work tomorrow morning. It will be concluded
with a signing of the resulting documents.
