Chairman of the State Committee for physical fitness, sports and tourism of Karachay-Cherkessia Hasan Kurachinov said that by 2016 the republic will have up to 30 sports complexes built, Yuga.ru reports.
An agreement was signed by the president of the republic and the minister of sport, tourism and youth policy of Russia, Kurachimov said on December 1.
He said that the republic lacks sports facilities. 8 new facilities will be built in 2011. Kurachinov said that the number of citizens involved in sports has risen. The region takes the second position in the North Caucasian Federal District, in terms of sports.
The state committee is working together with the authorities of Karachay-Cherkessia-Tourism. They started operation of the ski resort in Dombay. This led to higher tourist flow.
Kurachinov said that the concept of developing tourism in Karachay-Cherkessia until 2015 was approved, as well as the marketing plan for tourism until 2015. The plan is needed to attract more tourists.
