Armenia will recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh if
Azerbaijan attempts a military operation to restore territorial unity,
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a plenary session of OSCE in
Astana today, RIA Novosti reports.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev urged Armenia to continue peaceful
negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh and expressed hope that the conflict
will be settled in the nearest future, with respect to Azerbaijani
territorial unity.
Azerbaijan faces unconstructive position of Armenia at the summit,
head of the social-political department of Azerbaijani presidential
administration Ali Gasanov said, Trend reports. He said that
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was discussed at a summit in Istanbul, where
the sides made an attempt to settle the problem.
Ali Gasanov said that Armenia is trying to drag the process and give
up earlier agreements by making subjective conclusions. He expressed
hope that after the summit in Astana the OSCE Minsk Group will
activate and make new efforts to resolve the conflict.
