Lithuania will become the OSCE chairman in 2011 and plans to resolve
frozen conflicts, improve democratic processes in the OSCE space and
work on protection from cyber-threats, Lithuanian President Dalia
Grybauskaite said the OSCE summit in Astana on Thursday, RIA Novosti
reports.
She said that they can achieve progress in resolving the conflicts
around Moldova, Georgia, and Nagorno-Karabakh. The president also
noted the problems of democratic security, human rights protection,
media freedom and protection of journalists, democratic elections.
Lithuania proposed the preparation of proposals to strengthen the role
of civil society, free media and the protection of journalists.
