The coming summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will
hold talks on adoption of a concept of military cooperation until
2015, Russian Army General Nikolai Makarov, head of the committee of
Command Staffs of the CIS, said, RIA Novosti reports.
He said that the document takes into account the separate interests of
every CIS member. The concept will adapt the armed forces of CIS
members to modern threats.
Makarov noted that the committee’s session needs to determine the
prospective plan of work.
The main issues of the coming session are improvement of communication
systems and automatization, united control system and assessing the
radioactive, chemical and biological situations, improvement of the
common system of radar identification ‘Parol’ (Password), engineering
equipment and standardization and unification of topographic and
geodesic information.
