Russian and Italian presidents meet in Sochi

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Italian Prime Minister Silvio
Berlusconi are having a meeting in Sochi within the framework of the
Russian-Italian inter-state consultations, RIA Novosti reports.


The talks are being held in Krasnaya Polyana in restricted attendance,
followed by an enlarged meeting.


Medvedev and Berlusconi are expected to give a joint press conference.
The sides will discuss the state of bilateral ties, cooperation issues
and meetings of ministers of the two countries. They will also speak
about bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation.


At the consultations they plan to sign a series of documents,
including an executive protocol on realization of the readmission
protocol between Russia and the EU.


A joint declaration on bilateral partnership in modernization by the
co-chairs of the inter-governmental commission, Russian Finance
Minister Alexey Kudrin and head of Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Franco Frattini, will also be concluded.
