Members of the committee of the CIS command staffs have declared at a session in Moscow about the necessity in integration when forming ntional armed forces, head of the Russian Command Staff, Army General Nikolai Makarov, said, RIA Novosti reports.
He emphasized that Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus are actively reforming their armed forces. They may avoid mistakes made by their predecessors in the CIS space.
Makarov said that one state cannot develop new types of arms and equipment at the moment, thus integration is necessary.
Makarov said that the integration process is hindered with the fact that the countries were trying to build their armed forces on their own for a long time. He said that they viewed over 10 issues of integration, including improvement of communication systems, military-technical cooperation, standardization and unification of topography and geodesy information.
