The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) held its 13th meeting in Astana in the framework of the OSCE summit. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Gryshchenko, Trend reports with reference to the GUAM’s statement.
The meeting was attended by the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov, Deputy Minister of Moldavian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Andrei Popov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili.
The foreign Ministers took note of the progress of the OSCE action plan until the end of 2010, discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of the 14th item of 65th session of the General Assembly of the UN on "Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development” and the draft resolution entitled "Cooperation between the UN and GUAM.” The participants of the meeting approved plans for the interaction of diplomatic missions of the GUAM Member States in other international organizations for the period from 2010-2011.
The next meeting of Foreign Ministers will take place in January-February 2011.
