Iranian Foreign Minister meets counterparts

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has held separate meetings with senior officials on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue, Iranian news agency Press TV reports.

Mottaki met with his counterparts from Jordan, Yemen and Turkey, as well as Bahrain's crown prince on Saturday, before he departed the Bahraini capital for Tehran.

In his meeting with Bahraini Crown Prince Salman ibn Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa, Mottaki said that such talks would help the stability and security of the Persian Gulf states. Mottaki also held a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh who lauded Iran's role in regional and international issues and described Iran as a regional powerhouse. In his meeting with Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, the Iranian official appreciated the prudent measures taken by the Yemeni government to resolve civil clashes and expressed hope that the current approach would help Yemen accomplish its goals.

Mottaki travelled to Bahrain on Friday morning to attend an event at the city's Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel. He arrived in Tehran late on Saturday night and is scheduled to leave Tehran for Athens on Monday to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation with senior Greek officials.
