Makhachkala taxi drivers on strike

Minibus taxi drivers in Makhachkala started a protest on Monday,
demanding prices for their transport to be increased, RIA Novosti
reports, citing a source at the city administration.

The route taxis are the main transport in Makhachkala. There are a few
trolley buses as well.

The police say that the protest does not violate the law.

The head of the section of industry, transport, communication and road
works Shakhban Musayev said that the drivers demand the prices to be
increased from 10 to 13 rubles due to higher gas prices. He also said
that officials of the city administration are meeting the protesters.
