Chechnya continues militant arrests

Police have arrested two militants and one of their supporters, the
press-service of the Chechen Interior Ministry reports.


The police of Shatoy District have arrested a local from Karachayevsk
and a 35-year old local from Erkin-Shakhara village of
Karachay-Cherkessia, who were taking part in illegal armed formations
and attacking police since February 29 to March 1, 2010 in Ulus-Kert
village of Shatoy District in Chechnya.


The police of Nozhay-Yurtvsk District, together with the police patrol
have arrested a local from Gansolchu village, 1951, who was supporting
militants in spring 2002 by providing food.


Yesterday, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said in an interview with
Interfax that there may actually be no militants left in the republic.


In October, the Chechen police announced that the republic had seen no
terrorist attacks in the first 9 months of 2010.
