Russia and EU discuss South Caucasus conflicts

Cooperation between the European Union and Russia plays a key role in
solving regional conflicts, EU head Herman Von Rompuy said today, RIA
Novosti
reports.

He said that the sides discussed a wide range of issues, including the
results of the OSCE meeting in Astana on December 1-2. Rompuy believes
that the unresolved conflicts threaten stability and the security of
the EU and Russia.

One of the most topical conflicts is the Transdniester peace process.

Van Rompuy also said that the EU welcomes the presence of the OSCE in
Georgia and hopes that it will solve the security issues there.

The Russian-EU summit also saw talks on ways to settle the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russia-24 reports.
