The Kyrgyz authorities have officially confirmed the arrest of ex-BBC journalist and head of the PR agency Flexi Communications, Vugar Halilov, a UK citizen of Azerbaijani origin . The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has sent confirmation to the UK embassies in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The UK Foreign Ministry expressed hope for a dialogue with the Kyrgyz side over the arrest of Halilov, reports Kommersant.
Halilov was arrested on April 12 and charged with money-laundering. His lawyer has dismissed the charges as "absurd."
