The Council of the Elders will elect the new mayor of Yerevan within a month. According to the law on autonomy and territorial administration of Yerevan, the mayor will be temporarily replaced by the deputy mayor, Panorama.am reports.
Taron Margaryan will be the acting mayor. The new mayor will be elected on January 8.
The Mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglaryan resigned after the scandal that happened recently. Beglaryan beat up a member of the protocol department of the president’s office Aram Kandayan.
