Georgian battalion returns from Afghanistan

A Georgian peacekeeping battalion returned from Afghanistan early on
Friday. The Georgian servicemen were welcomed by the Deputy Defense
Minister Nikoloz Dzimtseishvili and the head of the United Staff
General-Major Devi Chankotadze, Trend reports.


The third infantry brigade of the Georgian peacekeeping battalion was
taking part in the ISAF operation as part of the French forces.


Chankotadze congratulated the servicemen on avoiding casualties and
said that Georgia will continue its mission in Afghanistan.


700 servicemen earlier returned to Tbilisi earlier. They were serving
as part of the US forces in Afghanistan. They lost 5 troops in six
months.


According to the rotation mechanism, both military forces will be
replaced with other military subdivisions.
