Ukraine is no longer interested in future cooperation within the
framework of GUAM, the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Vladimir
Litvin, said at a news conference.
"It seems that nowadays most of the member-states are no longer
interested in this project," he said. He also added that EU Eastern
partnership is more attractive for Ukraine.
"For Democracy and Economic development -GUAM" is an international
organization established by Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova
in 1997. The organization is aimed at cooperation in the fight against
international terrorism, organized crime and extremism.
The Eastern Partnership is a EU project aimed at establishing close
ties with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldavia, Belarus and Ukraine.
Within the program, 600 million euros will be granted to the countries
from 2013 to develop governmental structures, enforce border control
and promote the development of small business.
