The formation of the legal framework of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization (CSTO), the military-political alliance of Armenia,
Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan,
has been completed, the CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha
announced today, RIA Novosti reports.
He noted that the organization has the power potential and regulatory
framework to govern its activities, including mechanisms for dealing
with crisis situations. The future activities of the CSTO will focus
on "the solution of practical problems on various issues related to
security."
The events in Kyrgyzstan have shown the need to improve the efficiency
of the CSTO, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev noted.
