The Council of National Security of Armenia has approved the state program for development of arms and engineering for 2011-2015, News Armenia reports, citing the press-service of Armenian president.
The session was initiated by the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who heads the council.
The program is a result of mid-term planning in the Armenian armed forces. The document was developed basing on the results of the previous stages of strategic defense reconsideration that started in 2008.
Purchases of new arms will improve Armenian army, realization of the program will increase the military security in mid and long terms, the press-service says.
