New Georgian battalion arrives in Afghanistan

The 32nd battalion of the Georgian armed forces has arrived in
Afghanistan. The Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend that the
battalion will be serving in one of the most complicated provinces of
the country, Helmand, overseen by the USA.

The Georgian military will patrol the area, support contacts with the
local population, and provide them with medical assistance if
necessary.

US military experts praise the skill of the Georgian peacekeeping battalion.
The 32nd battalion replaced the 31st, which was fulfilling its mission
in Afghanistan for 6 months, during which five Georgian servicemen
died.

There are a total of two Georgian subdivisions in Afghanistan: 170
servicemen in the French zone of action and 700 in the US.
