Turkmenistan’s president to make official visit to Moscow

The presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan, Dmitry Medvedev and Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, discussed preparations for the May 8 informal CIS summit in Moscow during a telephone conversation, the Kremlin press service said on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.


"As part of a regular exchange of views on topical issues of bilateral collaboration and interaction in international affairs, the heads of the states discussed questions of preparation of contacts for near-term outlook, in particular, of the informal meeting of the heads of CIS states on May 8 in Moscow and joint participation in ceremonies on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, as well as plans for visits by the president of Turkmenistan to regions of Russia," the statement said.

Berdymukhammedov confirmed an invitation for Medvedev to come to Turkmenistan on an official visit, the terms of which will be agreed through diplomatic channels, the Kremlin press service added.
