Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan scheduled for October 10th

Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan will be held on October 10th 2010, said Omurbek Tekebayev, the deputy head of the Kyrgyz provisional government for constitutional reform, during a speech
delivered on state television. "Before the presidential elections a referendum on constitutional reform will also be held on June 27th", reports Itar-Tass.

According to ITAR-TASS, the latest presidential elections were held in Kyrgyzstan in summer 2009, when Kurmanbek Bakiyev won the elections. Several days ago he had to leave the country under pressure from the opposition.
