The Georgia National Guard is celebrating its 20th anniversary today.
The Georgian Defense Ministry says that there will be no anniversary
events, Trend reports.
The National Guard was established on December 20, 1990. It was the
first military formation of an independent Georgia. Its goal was to
support the civil authorities in emergency situations, manage
mobilization resources, reinforce the armed forces and hold ceremonial
events.
Today they manage the reserve and mobilization forces, train
reservists and work on civil defense.
