Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko is receiving congratulations with his victory in the presidential election held last Sunday. The first messages arrived from the presidents of Iran and Venezuela - Mahmud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez.
The Iranian leader has described the elections as "another golden page of the brilliant history of the great people of Belarus,"demonstrating support for Lukashenko.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called Belarus "the bastion of dignity and prosperity in Europe, convulsing from the insatiable greed of transnational capital."
According to preliminary data of the Belarusian Central Election Commission, Lukashenko got 79.67% of votes.
