In a joint statement, issued as a result of the Russian-Indian summit
in New Delhi, it was announced that Medvedev had invited Indian
Minister Manmohan Singh to visit Russia for the next bilateral summit.
The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The arrival of the Indian
guest in Russia can be expected in 2011.
"The parties agreed to continue work aimed at increasing bilateral
trade to $20 billion by 2015," the document says. Moscow and Delhi
intend to develop scientific and technological cooperation and
cooperation in high technology fields. "A new Russian-Indian
scientific and technological center would facilitate the
implementation of these programs," the document says.
Russia and India have endorsed the idea of connecting South Africa to
the activities of BRIC (Russia, Brazil, India, China) in 2011. As
Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko previously said, South
Africa could join the BRIC countries during the summit in China in
April 2011.
