The Governor of Krasnodar Territory, Alexander Tkachyov, is
celebrating his 50th birthday on December 23, Yuga.ru reports.
Tkachyov was born in the Vyselki Cossack village in Krasnodar
Territory in 1960. In 1994 he became a deputy of the Legislative
Council of Krasnodar Territory. In 1995 he became a State Duma deputy
of the second calling, re-elected in 1999. He headed the committee for
nationalities and was the deputy head of the agricultural industry
groups.
On December 3rd 2000, he became the head of the administration of
Krasnodar Territory, supported by the Governor, Nikolai Kondratenko.
Tkachyov received 82.14% of the vote.
On March 14th 2004 Tkachyov was re-elected and became the governor of
Kuban on March 30th.
On April 23rd 2007 Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Tkachyov
as the head of the administration of Krasnodar Territory for a
five-year term.
Tkachyov has received awards: ‘In memory of the 850th anniversary of
Moscow’ (1997), an honorary certificate of the Russian Federal Council
(2000), a medal ‘For services to the All-Russian Census’ (2002). He
has a grand-prix ‘Person of the Year', the ‘Glory of Russia’ Order
(2004), the Order of the Russian Orthodox Church of Sergy Radonezhsky
(2005) and the Order ‘For services to the Fatherland’ (2005).
Yuga.ru reports that Russian Patriarch Kiril awarded the Order of
Saint Duke Daniil of Moscow to Tkachyov.
