Maikop to open Center of Armenian Culture in 2011

The regional offices of the Russian Armenians’ Union (RAU) has found
sponsors to construct a Center of Armenian Culture in Maikop next
year, Yuga.ru reports.

The head of the regional office, Parnak Kukulyan, said that they came
up with the idea to construct the center long ago, but they lacked the
necessary finances.

He said that the center will be built in the area of the Baptism
Church of Surb Arutyun of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the western
part of Maikop. There will be buildings for a Sabbath school, a
conference hall and back offices. The temple complex will be expanded.

Kukulyan clarified that the regional department of the RAU in Adygeya
activated work this year. Studies of Armenian language were begun at
middle school Number 9 in Maikop, the Armenian dance ensemble ‘Nairi’
visited, and the ‘Yerazank’ ensemble from the Proletarsky district of
Maikop won a prize at the Sochi festival.

Ties with organizations in Krasnodar Territory were improved. The
regional office is working with the Federal Migration Service,
Kukulyan noted.
