'Vestnik Kavkaza' continues to present its readers the New Year moods
of political analysts, experts on the Caucasus and representatives of
public organizations and national associations. According to the
executive director of the Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis, Eldar
Guliyev, this year is important for the Azerbaijani people, as it is
associated with the Karabakh settlement.
"With regard to Russia, on the one hand it is obvious how much effort
and attention is paid by the Russian leadership to the North Caucasus
region: the establishment there of the Federal District, the
appointment of Alexander Khloponin as presidential envoy. All these
are positive aspects. There is, of course, serious stabilization in
Chechnya under the leadership of Kadyrov, but tensions in Dagestan and
other North Caucasian republics have clearly increased," Eldar Galiyev
says.
Eldar Galiyev also expressed his concerns about the recent events on
Manezhnaya Square and noted the effectiveness of police actions in
dealing with riots.
