New foreign minister appointed in Uzbekistan

The president of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, appointed Eljor Ganiev as foreign minister of Uzbekistan on Tuesday. Mr Ganiev used to be the head of the Ministry of foreign economic relations, investment and trade, Trend reports.

He is also the vice-president of the republic.

The former foreign minister, Vladimir Norov, will be the deputy minister. Galina Saidove, previously the deputy minister of the economy, was appointed minister of foreign economic relations, investment and trade.
