Turkey and the US discuss Iranian nuclear strategy

The foreign minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu, and the European commissioner on foreign relations, Katherine Ashton, discussed Iran's nuclear program over the phone, TRT reports.

This problem is becoming of great importance in the foreign policy of Turkey. In the second half of January 2011 Istanbul will host a meeting of Iran and the "5+1" group, comprising the five members of the UN Security Council and Germany.

Ankara is following the situation. Turkey doesn't want Iran to have nuclear weapons, as that would destabilize regional security.
