Pardoned prisoners are being released, by decree of Azerbaijani
President Ilham Aliyev, Trend reports.
92 prisoners were pardoned, 20 of whom are serving their sentences in
special structures, the head of the penal execution service of the
Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan, Malik Alekperov, said.
He said that four citizens from Bangladesh and two from Pakistan are
among those pardoned.
71 prisoners were pardoned, 15 of whom had been sentenced to jail and
5 of whom had been fined. 41-year-old Kerimov Guldan, sentenced by the
Gakh District Court on February the 2nd 2010, received a suspended
sentence.
47 decrees signed since 1994 have pardoned 5,029 people. 32 decrees
were signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev and 15 by President Ilham
Aliyev. 8 acts have been used to pardon approximately 40,000 people in
Azerbaijan.
