Kabardino-Balkaria has elected the acting head of the Muslim Spiritual
Administration (MSA.) Khazratali Zhzasezhev, deputy head of the MSA,
replaced mufti Anas Pshikhachev, who was killed by militants in
mid-December, RIA Novosti cites the administration.
Pshikhachev was one of the most authoritative Islamic religious
figures in the North Caucasus. He was lured from his house by two
unknown assailants in Nalchik and shot dead on December 15.
Zhzasezhev was elected unanimously.
