Armenian veterans receive payments from Sberbank

2,416 Armenian veterans of the Great Patriotic War have received
payments from their frozen accounts in Sberbank in 2010. The total sum
paid is $1.5 million, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan told a
session, News Armenia reports.


The government decided to make the payments on March 25, 2010.
The order of making compensation payments from the former Sberbank of
the USSR was approved on March 16, 2006, and the order for filing the
necessary form. This concerns deposits made before June 10, 1993.


The payments will only be made to citizens who were put on the list of
families who received benefits from July 1, 2005, to April 1, 2006.
The payments will be paid on a priority basis, based on social
groupings.


The state budget will pay approximately $4.6 million in compensation
for freezing the accounts.
