Greece plans to build a wall on its land border with Turkey to stop illegal immigration into the country. Christos Papoutsis, the minister for protection of civilians' rights, announced the 200-km-long wall will be similar to the wall between the USA and Mexico, RIA-Novosti reports.
According to Papoutsis, over 200 immigrants cross from Turkey to Greece every day. Many of them are civilians from Afghanistan, Algeria, Pakistan, Somali and Iraq.
Almost 80% of illegal immigrants cross into the European Union through Greece.
