the Russian service of state broadcaster TRT.

The theme of the conference is “Future diplomacy: global and regional
order through the prism of Turkey’s prospects”. The conference has

After ceremonies at the tomb of Kemal Ataturk.the conference was
opened by Davutoglu, who explained that Turkey wanted the world to
listen to it, a world in which Turkey’s options have limits, and that
this could be described as a shift in vector.

He stressed Turkey’s position as a cornerstone of the new world order,
one which sought unity over division.

He emphasised the strengthened Turkish influence in NATO, but did not
wish to play the role of a mere “gatekeeper” for the alliance.
The week-long event will continue in Erzurum, touching on the themes
of Turkey’s expanding global role, pressing foreign policy questions
and proposals for new initiatives.
