One of the priorities of the Georgian Ministry for the Economy and
Stable Development in 2011 will be building and reconstructing several
airports and Georgia’s complete integration into European airspace. A
network of airports will be developed corresponding to European safety
standards and passing an audit from the International Civil Aviation
Organisation, News-Georgia cites information from the ministry.
Other priorities include popularising Georgian produce, renovating
resorts and creating a tourist brand for the country, optimising the
policy on enterprises and developing training, creating a centre for
small business development in the regions and supporting exports of
organic products.
The “Green Georgia” project will be particularly important, involving
the introduction of electric vehicles and utilizing the country’s
alternative energy sources to the maximum.
Summing up 2010, the ministry claimed Georgia had had a good year
overall, as the economy grew in real terms, and particular successful
results had been achieved in the tourism sector and with
infrastructure projects.
