Iran does not plan closing borders with Azerbaijan

The Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan has explained the closing of the
Astara border post.


The consul of the Iranian embassy, Behruz Zare Mirzai, told Trend on
Monday that he contacted the authorities of Astara.


Mirzai said that the border post is operating in normal mode. He
explained that there was a major flow of people on January 8, which
resulted in delays at the border crossing. At 18.00 all the citizens
crossed the border.


Iran said that they will not close the border unilaterally.
The message says that the process was dragged out on the Iranian side.
The Iranian side implied an unofficial ban on border crossing.
